Temples, Highlands, and Coastal Magic – A Journey Through Bedugul & Tanah Lot

Highlights
Tour Overview
Discover the spiritual beauty and natural charm of Bali with our Bedugul and Tanah Lot Tour, a 10-hour experience that brings you to the island’s most iconic temples, lush highland scenery, and cultural treasures. From dramatic ocean views to misty mountain landscapes, this tour offers the perfect blend of culture, nature, and history for travelers eager to explore Bali’s most beloved landmarks.
Your adventure begins at the legendary Tanah Lot Temple, one of the most photographed and spiritually significant temples in Bali. Perched on a rocky outcrop surrounded by the rolling waves of the Indian Ocean, Tanah Lot offers breathtaking coastal views and a deep connection to Balinese mythology. As you walk along the shoreline, you’ll learn about the temple’s origins, its role in local legends, and enjoy the spectacular scenery created by the crashing waves.
Continue your journey to the peaceful Monkey Forest at Alas Kedaton, a tranquil sanctuary filled with lush greenery and home to hundreds of playful monkeys. Stroll through the shaded pathways and observe the monkeys in their natural habitat as they jump through the trees and interact with one another. The forest also houses a serene temple, offering a unique blend of nature, wildlife, and spirituality.
Your next stop is a traditional coffee plantation, where you’ll discover how Bali’s famous coffee — including the unique Luwak Coffee — is produced. Enjoy a guided walk through the plantation, learn about traditional harvesting and roasting methods, and take part in a tasting session featuring a variety of local coffees and herbal teas.
Recharge with a delightful lunch overlooking the scenic highlands of Bedugul. Enjoy a selection of Balinese and Indonesian dishes while taking in panoramic views of mountains, valleys, and cool highland air.
After lunch, visit the enchanting Ulun Danu Beratan Temple, one of Bali’s most iconic lakeside temples. Floating gracefully on the calm waters of Lake Beratan, this temple is dedicated to the goddess of the lake and exudes a mystical atmosphere.
Your final stop is the elegant Taman Ayun Temple, a royal temple built in the 17th century by the Mengwi kingdom. Surrounded by wide lotus-filled moats, expansive lawns, and multi-tiered shrines, this temple showcases the refined beauty of traditional Balinese architecture.

Beautiful temples, worth every moment
As a solo female traveler, I felt completely safe and well-looked-after throughout this tour. The three temples covered are each unique and impressive in different ways. Tanah Lot is dramatic and powerful, Ulun Danu is serene and mystical, and Taman Ayun is elegant and historic. The coffee plantation visit was a lovely surprise — I am now a luwak coffee convert! Only minor note: Tanah Lot can get very crowded in the afternoon, so arrive early if possible.

Kids and adults equally thrilled
This was the best day of our family vacation. Tanah Lot lived up to every photo we had seen — and the real thing is even more impressive. The monkey forest was a massive hit with our children who spent 20 minutes just watching the monkeys play. Ulun Danu Beratan in the mist looked like something from a fantasy film. The highland lunch with mountain views was delicious. Our guide was fantastic with the children. Highly recommend!

Iconic temples and stunning highlands
Tanah Lot at sunset is something you dream of, and seeing it in person did not disappoint. The temple standing on its rocky outcrop with waves crashing around it was breathtaking. Ulun Danu Beratan floating on the misty lake was equally magical. We loved the monkey forest stop too — the monkeys are hilarious and surprisingly calm. Our driver shared wonderful stories about each temple along the way. Perfect honeymoon day trip!
