Uluwatu Kecak Dance Experience – Where Culture Meets the Dramatic Ocean Cliffs

Highlights
Tour Overview
Discover the cultural and scenic beauty of Bali’s southern peninsula with our Best of Uluwatu Tour, an 8-hour experience designed to showcase the region’s most iconic landmarks, beautiful beaches, and remarkable cultural performances. From towering statues and lush landscapes to cliffside temples and sunset dinners by the sea, this tour is perfect for travelers who want to explore the very best of Uluwatu while embracing Bali’s rich heritage and breathtaking coastline.
Your adventure begins at the impressive Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) Cultural Park, home to one of the tallest statues in the world — the magnificent 121-meter statue of Lord Vishnu riding the mythical Garuda. As you explore the expansive park, you’ll be surrounded by beautiful gardens, artistic sculptures, cultural performances, and wide-open viewpoints overlooking the southern shores of Bali.
Next, enjoy a peaceful stop at a coffee plantation, where you’ll learn about the traditional methods of producing Bali’s renowned Luwak Coffee. Relax in a serene natural setting as you take part in a tasting session featuring a variety of locally grown coffees and teas.
As the afternoon approaches, you can choose between two unforgettable experiences. You may opt to watch the legendary Kecak Dance at Uluwatu Temple, a captivating Balinese performance that tells the ancient Ramayana story through fire, rhythmic chanting, and dramatic choreography — set dramatically on a cliff overlooking the Indian Ocean. Alternatively, you can visit Melasti Beach, a hidden paradise surrounded by towering limestone cliffs.
Your journey concludes with a delightful seafood dinner at Jimbaran Bay, one of Bali’s most beloved beachfront dining destinations. Sit at the edge of the ocean as the sun sets, savoring freshly grilled seafood while waves gently roll onto the shore.

The Kecak Dance changed my perspective on travel
I have been to many countries and seen many performances, but the Kecak Dance at Uluwatu Temple at golden hour was genuinely transcendent. The energy of over 150 performers chanting in unison, with the temple silhouetted against the setting sun and the ocean far below — it is unlike any other experience I have had. The Jimbaran seafood dinner afterward was a perfect way to end the evening. I already want to return just for this.

Beautiful experience, book early!
Our group of six thoroughly enjoyed this tour. The GWK park is massive and impressive, and the Kecak Dance was stunning. Just be aware that the best seats for the Kecak Dance at Uluwatu fill up very quickly — we arrived early on our guide's advice and got a great spot, but the latecomers were standing at the back. The Jimbaran seafood dinner was excellent value for fresh grilled fish by the sea. A wonderful afternoon and evening tour overall.

Everyone was completely wowed
We were skeptical about bringing our teenagers to a cultural dance performance, but they were completely captivated by the Kecak Dance. The setting on the cliff above the ocean is unlike anything else in the world. The GWK Cultural Park was also impressive — our son could not believe how tall the statue is. Jimbaran Bay seafood dinner was delicious and the kids loved dining right on the beach. Our driver timed everything perfectly to catch the best light. Unforgettable evening!

Kecak Dance at sunset — pure magic
If you do ONE thing in Bali, make it the Kecak Dance at Uluwatu Temple at sunset. Nothing can prepare you for the combination of the dramatic cliff setting, the crashing ocean below, and the mesmerizing performance. The fire, the chanting, the costumes — it sent chills down my spine. The GWK statue earlier in the day was impressively massive. And the seafood dinner at Jimbaran Bay with our feet in the sand as the sun set was the perfect romantic ending. Best night of our honeymoon.
